Intel Core i5 10600k, the best gaming processor?
Intel has released their 10th generation Core i5 processor i5 10600k.
It is basically coming to fight against high level processors like Raizen 5/7 processor like 3600X and Raizen 7 3700X. It costs 262. Which in Bangladesh maybe we will get it in 27/28 thousand rupees. (And the version without F version or internal GPU we can get for 237 $, 25 thousand rupees in Bangladesh.
After the mid-range, it is an important range in which users buy processors for heavy productivity work and for intense gaming or both.
Brief Specifications:
Cores/threads | Frequency | Cache Memory | Lithography | PCie | TDP | Price |
6/12 | 4.1/4.8 | 12MB | 14nm | 3.0 | 125W | 262$ |
What's in it?
Intel Core i5 10600k comes with 6cores, 12 threads, 12 MB cache memory. Clock speed we can see very high, base clock 4.1 GHz and there is a chance to boost it up to 4.8ghz. TDP 125 watts. This processor is also built on Intel 14 nanometer architecture.Details Benchmarking:
We can find out how powerful a processor is in a pen on paper in two types of tests, we divide these two tests into gaming and productivity, these two parts in bold.First, we will come to productivity where we can get an idea of how fast the processor can do the video, image rendering, video export, editing, compressing, decompressing, code compiling, logo making, how fast these scores are in the relevant software...

Conclusion: Considering the price and looking at the performance of AMD's processors at this price, it must be said that the Intel core i5 10600k has a very disappointing score in 90% of the cases. Ryzen 7 2700x, ryzen 7 3700x was far behind in many Gula tests.
And the disappointing thing is the Ryzen 5 3600, which costs a lot less than that. In most cases, Intel has not been able to score the level of that processor. Most of the tests were behind this.
Another thing, the performance of Adobe we know is a strong place of Intel processor, but here also ryzen 5 3600 was behind. 3700x was far ahead.
If productivity is your main and sole purpose, then this processor is not a good choice at all. Intel was able to comeback ??? No answer yet. Stay tuned for gaming benchmarks.
Gaming Performance:
I will emphasize a little more in the review of gaming because the difference in score is as important in multitasking as the difference in framerate in gaming. 10 FPS and much more matters for specially competitive gamers. Whatever. The review covers two resolutions of 1080P and 1440P.
Test bench: RTX 2080ti, 32gb CL 14 DDR4 Ram.
Battlefield 5 (1080p):
Battlefield V (1080p) |
Intel's new processor with a 2020 TI is giving 16 fps. 1% Low and Very Impressive 125 FPS
And with this 18 fps it is pushing back the r5 3600 to 13 fps and 16 fps at 1% low. The Ryzen 7 3700x also lags behind 11 fps on average.
Interestingly, this 16 fps is equal to the Core i9 9900K.
1440p:
Battlefield V(1440p) |
However, Intel E is at the top of this list.
From 130 to 122 fps there are ranges from Nine 3900X to Raisin 52 2600, from our Intel processor to 5 to 13 fps. However, at 1% low, the 2700 is the only processor that is giving 80 fps, which is doing much better than all other Gula processors, above 100.
Far Cry new dawn:
Far Cry New Dawn (1080p) |
1080P Ultra: 121 fps average and 96 1% low.
Which is more than 3600 on average and 1% is 10 fps in both cases.
Ahead of 3700x is 7 fps in both average and 1% low.
However, the processors below the i5 have the lowest 2600 with 1% and the average FPS difference is 30 in both cases! Which is a lot.
And another thing to note is that in many cases there is a 1% difference but more than the average.

3600 ?? 3600 lags behind here at an average of 14 fps and 1% is also 14 fps.

However, on average, Intel is still getting 6/10 fps more.

Conclusion: We did not see any competition in gaming. There is a common saying boss at Intel Gaming. It's as if Intel has remastered it in today's language. No processor from Raizen was found here, no matter the difference in FPS, e Intel has always been seen above. And it has knocked out rivals, with the previous generation's Core i Nine, the equivalent of gaming being the most powerful, and its performance is truly remarkable.
Who will buy/upgrade:
Very hardcore gamer, just gaming e, FPS is very important to you, your budget and intel core i5 10600k match. Intel core i5 10600k may be a very nice option for you in that case. You can choose it without any hesitation. Perfect choice for those who want to build a gaming-centric multitasking PC that is the main game, with occasional lightweight. The gaming performance equivalent to the Core i9 is really incredible with a processor of 26/30 thousand. There is no other competitor of core i5 10600k in this budget. For the upgrade, you must keep in mind that if you are currently an 8700k or ryzen 5 3600 user, your FPS will not increase much. And keep in mind it has been tested with RTX 2080ti. If you test with 5600xt / 2060 / super, there will not be as much difference as seen here. And there will actually be a separate cost of buying your motherboard from the Raizen platform that you must seriously consider. In that case you may have to go through the hassle of selling old motherboards. Those who are using processors like 8400 / 7500k, i5 6th gen, i3 3rd gen, i7 6th gen, ryzen 5 1600/2600, if the budget is around 30 thousand, it may be the best choice for the upgrade.
However, 10600KF may be a better option.
Who will not buy/do not upgrade
Do light gaming with professional video editor / multitasking or gaming at all, just do all these other things. Or for those of you who have multitasking as the main purpose of gaming, there are other options for you. In multitasking, Raisen's all-rounder 3600, which is priced at Rs 16,000 (the price may be lower if the situation is normal) is giving even less performance than what you have seen from the benchmarking above. And its budget is far behind competitors like 3700x, 2700x, so it would not be reasonable to take it at all.If you are not a heavy user, but upgrade other parts with ryzen 5 3600, it would be better to increase the RAM. Give extra 8/10 thousand rupees to GPU.
There is no question of upgrade. Because you will not get the expected performance, with the problem of getting a new motherboard. An upgrade is reasonable for an upgrade given the amount of improved performance from the current build
And you can wait for the AMD Ryzen 4000 series.
Last word
For ordinary gamers, hardcore professional gamers, the core i5 10600k is the best gaming processor of the tenth generation. Processors like the core i9 have taken this processor to another level in terms of price-to-performance gaming performance. Although multitasking did not deliver the expected results in the budget, the core i5 10600k has now taken a different place in the budget for gaming-based builds.Specifications source: ark.intel.com Benchmark source: Hardware Unboxed
